People have developed a preference to put some aromatherapy machine or humidifier in the room that can adjust the indoor environment. However, people often confuse the two appliances, which raises the question - what's the difference between an aroma diffuser and a humidifier?

Diffusers and humidifiers may look similar, but in reality, they are different:

  1. Purpose

The main difference between an aroma diffuser and a humidifier is that both devices are designed for different purposes. The purpose of using an aromatherapy machine is to distribute essential oils in a room to ensure that the aroma of the house is maintained and the needs of the user are met.

On the other hand, the purpose of a humidifier is to control the humidity in the room and prevent the air from drying out. Dry air can cause many uncomfortable health problems, such as dry skin, dry sinuses, coughing and chapped lips, to name a few. Humidifiers prevent these problems by removing moisture and drying out the air.

  2. Tank size

Most humidifiers are equipped with larger water tanks than aroma diffusers to deal more effectively with dry air. A large tank needs to be installed on the humidifier to increase the humidity throughout the room. The humidifier tank can store 3.8L of water or more. Contrary to a humidifier, the Aroma Diffuser Z can hold up to 500ml of water.

However, most aroma diffusers are not designed to use a lot of water, as it only needs to disperse essential oils in your room, not water.

  3. How to operate

Diffusers and humidifiers also work differently. The two devices use very different methods to disperse water/essential oils in a room.

Humidifiers use nozzles to provide humidity, while diffusers use more advanced ultrasonic vibrations that break down essential oil particles into tiny essential oil particles that combine with the mist in the tank and spray into the air.

  4. Maintenance

Because the aromatherapy machine needs to change the water and the essential oil at any time, the design of the water tank is simple and easy to clean. The humidifier basically has a backed water tank design, so the internal structure is complex and cleaning is more difficult.
