How effective is the implementation of the new national standard for air purifiers?

　　With the exposure of a series of problems in the air purifier industry, how to further standardize product quality and clarify higher technical standards has become a top priority. Since January 1, 2017, the China Environmental Labeling Standard for Air Purifiers (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard") issued by the Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection has been officially implemented.

　　In recent years, the public is paying more and more attention to air quality, and the haze situation in some areas is not optimistic, which makes the air purifier market develop rapidly. But at the same time, due to the uneven quality of products on the market, accusations related to lack of standards, false publicity, and poor product quality have also been continuously exposed.

　　In October 2016, the Beijing Consumers Association announced the results of a comparison experiment of 50 air purifiers sold online. The results show that there are a total of 26 problems, accounting for 54% of the total. Among them, 14 samples did not reach the "qualified" energy efficiency level, and another 7 samples had serious potential safety hazards, and one-fifth of the problems involved product propaganda that did not match the actual situation.

　　From the perspective of the domestic air purifier market structure, half of the top ten brands in the industry are foreign brands and half are domestic brands.

　　But in the past two years, domestic brands are making efforts, including the emergence of some new Internet brands. Under the influence of the new standard, the overall level of the domestic air purifier industry will be improved, and the inconsistency between the propaganda of manufacturers and the actual effect in the past will gradually decrease.

　　With the introduction of the standard, this standard is based on the national quality standard of "Air Purifier" (GB/T18801-2015) implemented in March 2016, and is similar to the national standard of "Air Purifier" (GB/T18801-2015) In contrast, this standard is more stringent. It stipulates that the purification energy efficiency of air purifiers for removing fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is not less than 5 cubic meters per watt hour, and the purification energy efficiency for removing formaldehyde or toluene is not less than 1 cubic meter per watt hour.

　　This standard requires that air purifier manufacturers applying for the Chinese environmental label must at least meet the energy efficiency level, which is a parameter level greater than 5, before they can paste the Chinese environmental label on the product. Therefore, compared with the previous national standard, this standard is in environmental protection and energy saving. There are many considerations.

　　The status quo of the mixed market may be improved. The standard clarifies the maximum purification index and noise requirements for air purifier products used in rooms of different sizes to remove PM2.5, formaldehyde and other organic volatiles, and also specifies the purification index requirements for products in a silent state for the first time. After the implementation of the standard, consumers can identify it according to the "China Environmental Label" posted on the air purifier, and use it as one of the important basis for purchasing products.
