  Is the air purifier filter the higher the level, the better?

  What is the filtration level of the purifier? Different filtration levels have different purification effects. The higher the level of the HEPA net, the smaller the particle diameter that can be filtered, and the better the filtering effect.   Common misunderstandings of HEPA filtering

  Misunderstanding 1: The larger the volume of particles, the easier it is to be removed by HEPA?

  Analysis: The purification principle of HEPA filter is not simply to filter out particles larger than the mesh like a sieve for purification. Instead, the van der Waals force between the fine particles and the filter forms an adsorption effect, which has a good filtration efficiency for particles above 0.5 μm and below 0.1 μm.

  The particles below 0.1μm do Brownian motion. The smaller the particle, the stronger the Brownian motion, and the more impacts, the better the adsorption effect.

  When particles above 0.5μm do inertial motion, the greater the mass, the greater the inertia, and the better the filtering effect.

  In contrast, particles with a diameter of 0.1-0.3 μm become a difficult point to remove HEPA. This is why the industry uses a filtration rate of 0.3μm particles to define the HEPA filter class.

  Misunderstanding 2: The purification efficiency of HEPA on 0.3μm particles can reach more than 99.97, so the purification effect of HEPA on 0.1μm particles is uncertain.

  Analysis: Like Misunderstanding 1, PM0.3 is easily protected by HEPA filters because it is not easily affected by van der Waals forces. So a filter with 99.97 effect on PM0.3 may have a good effect on PM0.1, even 99.99.

  Misunderstanding 3: The higher the HEPA filtration efficiency, the better?

  Analysis: Everything is too late. The higher the HEPA filtration efficiency, the greater the resistance, and the actual ventilation will decrease. When the air volume decreases, the number of purifications per unit time will also decrease, and the purification efficiency will also decrease.
